Why Is My Dryer Not Drying ? 3 Things To Look At When Your Dryer Won't Start

We've all been there. You time your shower with your dryer because you want a soft, cozy towel to dry your toosh - and the worst case scenario happens:

Your towel comes out humid and you look to the sky saying: Why is life so cruel?

The first thing you should do, after making sure your lint collector was emptied and before attempting to solve your problem with a YouTube video, is call a professional.

So, if this sounds like you, have no fret, we're here to help, call us at (403) 505-0295. If it's related to your ventilation, we're the team you need.

Now that this is clear, let's have a loot at

The 3 things to look at if your dryer isn't working correctly.

What would cause a dryer to stop working?

Clogged air vents are a common cause for poor airflow in clothes dryer systems. One way to see if your dryer's air vent is clogged is by turning on your dryer and going outside to feel the flow of air leaving the vent. If it's slow and not very warm, your vent may be due for a good cleaning.

How do I know if my dryer fuse is blown?

As listed on diy.repairclinic.com, and talked about the YouTube video above, checking your fuse requires a bit of know-how. We do not recommend attempting this on your own, but rather suggest you call a professional repair man. With that disclaimer out of the way, here is what diy.repairclinic.com had to say:

  • Unplug your dryer and ensure it is no longer connected to the gas or electric.

  • Locate the thermal fuse, as above.

  • Disconnect the thermal fuse from the wires.

  • Test the fuse with a multimeter.

  • If the needle on your multimeter does not move, your thermal fuse is blown.

How do you fix a dryer tht won't turn on?

This is another disclaimer moment: call a professional before attempting to do it yourself. AdamDIY has a great little 6 minute video listing of :
